We had a pretty nice week. This was our 5th week of school. We work on a “6 weeks on, 1 week off” schedule during the school year, and we take off 2 weeks in December/January for the Holidays. So, after we complete next week, we’ll have our first break week.
Last week, we started using a new-to-us curriculum that I am really loving (review will come in a month or so). It’s so easy to use, and even the kids don’t complain, so that’s nice. It’s something they can all do together, so it’s a great Group Time project. We still use CTC Math for our math program, and supplement with Uber Smart Math Facts for training. The kids are doing pretty well with them. For reading, I let the kids choose the book they want to read to themselves. Issac has been reading a survivalist book, Ethan has bee reading Around the World in 80 Days, and Rach has been reading The Hunger Games. Lucas’ favorite book is The Three Billy Goats Gruff. He likes to have my Kindle read it to him. Lucas also still uses the Wet Dry Try app from Handwriting Without Tears to work on letter formation and writing.
We still have Group Time work that we do at the table. It consists of Character Training, History, and Grammar as of now. I also have everyone’s school day scheduled, which makes the day run so much more smoothly. I’m so glad I decided to do this. With 4 kids officially working now, I’d be like a headless chicken running around trying to decide what direction everyone should go.
Thanks for stopping by, and have a great weekend!
