I’m sure some of you have heard of The Old Schoolhouse Magazine by now, especially if you’re a homeschooling parent like me! Recently, TOS Magazine released a new website, called SchoolhouseTeachers.com! SchoolhouseTeachers.com is full of daily, weekly, and monthly lesson plans for you to use in your own homeschool. Most families will be able to use the website for ALL of their homeschooling needs, while others would use it as a supplement. I currently use SchoolhouseTeachers.com for all of our homeschooling needs. There really is so much on the site to utilize.
Let’s face it. In this economy, we all need to save money. Not everyone can afford to go spend bunches of money on different curricula. For just $1 for your first month, you can see and use everything SchoolhouseTeachers.com has to offer! Your paid use of the site also gives you access to every single Schoolhouse Planner. You’ll also receive The Old Schoolhouse Magazine FREE in your inbox every month, as well as get access to back issues. As long as you remain a member, you will get bonus e-books added to your account each month. If you remain a member for at least a year, you get get 149 FREE e-books! After your first month, your credit card or Paypal will be charged $5.95 per month. You can also purchase a yearly membership for just $64.26. When you join for a whole year, you get this nifty tote bag, which is perfect for taking to the library, PLUS 1 back issue of TOS Magazine!
If you’re not satisfied, cancel any time. Not everyone has room in their home for lots of books. I know that right now, we have almost no free space for things like more books. One of the nice things about SchoolhouseTeachers.com is that everything is online. You can just print what you need when you need it.
I believe that almost every subject one can think of is available on the site, and they range in ages from Pre-K all the way through High school. Chemistry, Music, Grammar, Home Economics, History, Science, Writing. There are French lessons, even! My favorite is the Spelling. I don’t know why, but I just don’t like to sit and think of spelling words. Maybe my Mama brain is just too tired. I love being able to go to SchoolhouseTeachers.com, find the grade range I need, and print the list. What could be easier? It takes me longer to fall asleep at night than it does for me to find what I need here.
I love to utilize the Dailies section, too. Here’s a picture example of what you’ll find in this section. *hint* click the pic to make it bigger!
As you can see, there is LOTS to choose from in just this one area! Some subject will have a lesson for each day, such as Grammar and Math, while others, such as Middle School Economics, will have everything for the month in one place. The daily lessons are available to download in PDF format and print on Monday each week. This is when I print our lessons for the entire week. I love being able to get everything ready at once! Here are some sample pages that you can check out, and there are a bunch! There’s a sample writing lesson, High School Math, music, even Shakespeare!
So, let’s talk a little bit about the Dailies section, specifically Grammar. This week we’ve been learning about Compound Nouns. The first lesson of the week tends be be the easiest, and each day you learn a little more on the week’s subject, and the work requires a little more thinking. With Friday’s lesson, there is usually a review of what we’ve learned on that week’s subject. My kids like to keep all of their worksheets for the week so they can study what they’ve learned. I sort of like to look at it as a weekly quiz, although there’s nothing that says you have to, it’s just a preference for me.
The one time I needed to email Customer Service, my request was responded to within the hour. I was very impressed, because with a lot of companies you have to wait at least a day to hear back from anyone and get a resolution.
The verdict? I love love SchoolhouseTeachers.com I feel like I will always use this site in our homeschooling adventure.
