Our family was blessed last year to be able to review our very first product from Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW), and we loved it so hard! So I was thrilled to be given yet an opportunity to review a totally different product from them! For this review, we were given several products that are part of a kit. We received Deluxe Combo Teacher/Student Writing Package Level B [FIX-1 & 2]. Sheesh, that’s a lot of goodies to get all at once, but I couldn’t wait to dig in! The products we were given are geared for grades 6-8, and so Rach was the lucky one to use them. Issac is also within the grade range, but he will use these at a later time.

By now you have probably heard of Apologia Educational Ministries, and know that they offer lots of quality products for homeschoolers. Well, today, I’m here to tell you about a new product from them: it’s the Exploring Creation Field Trip Journal. The journal is a consumable book designed to help you keep track of any field trips you take, your favorite places, and even capture things as only you can experience them yourself.
Hello again! I created our meal plan last week for this week. When I come up with meals for our suppers, I tend to use a combination of meals that our family favorites along with new ideas from the $5 Dollar Meal Plan, and many of Erin’s recipes end up as new family favorites! The Mexican Stack-Es from last week were a hit, and I’ll definitely be making them again. I love the 4-week free trial that’s available, and since you don’t have to give your credit card information, it’s a win-win situation. I’m so glad I signed up last year!
So, after I had already written our meal plan down in my planner, I got sick. I was sick all.weekend.long. Blah! I’m going to list our meals exactly as I planned them since I have them written down this way, but I’ve changed meals around to accommodate my illness. I am not eating soup beans when I’m already sick to my stomach. Nope. So, here we go!
Monday ~ Soup Beans w/Cornbread
Tuesday ~ Manwich Roast Sandwiches
Wednesday ~ Chicken Fajitas
Thursday ~ Tomato Soup with Grilled Cheese Croutons
Friday ~ Skillet Nachos
Saturday ~ Fried Chicken
Sunday ~ Cumin Pork Roast w/ Black Beans
I had actually planned to make the pork roast last Saturday, but hubby and I had a date planned for that day, and we were actually gone most of the day. I was already feeling puny then and knew that black beans and anything spicy would be a bad idea, so I nixed it that day and decided to move it to this week since I had the roast already.
It took me forever to make soup beans that my husband would actually eat. We’ve been married for 17.5 years, and I thought I’d never get it down, but I did! I had always used ham bone left over from the country hams we get, plus salt and sometimes onions. Well, last year I found a new-to-me seasoning at the store that I wanted to try. One day I got the idea to make soup beans and add this seasoning to them. Well, my husband liked them! I almost said “love,” but I don’t think he’ll ever actually love soup beans. He did say that they were good, though. The seasoning is called Tony Chachere’s Original Creole Seasoning. I like to use it pretty often. It’s great for bland meats like pork, and also for making potato wedges.
